Privacy Policy

Last updated: 17 August 2026 · In effect from 17 August 2026

This policy explains how StreakWiki (“StreakWiki”, “we”, “us”) handles personal information collected through the website at streakwiki.com. We handle personal information in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).

Who is responsible

StreakWiki is the editorial project that operates this website and decides how personal information collected here is handled. Questions about this policy, requests for access to your information, or a complaint can be sent to the address in the Contact section at the end of this page.

What we collect

  • Information you type into the subscription form on the home page: your e-mail address and, if you choose to give it, your first name.
  • Your consent record: the fact that you ticked the consent box, and the choice you made in the cookie bar, stored in your browser.
  • Plus membership details, if you join: the e-mail address the membership is attached to, its status (on the list, confirmed, active or cancelled) and the dates those changes happened. Card numbers and other payment credentials are handled by the external payment provider and are never seen or stored by this site.
  • Technical information created automatically when you open a page: IP address, browser user agent, device and screen characteristics, referring page, the pages you viewed and the time of the request. This information sits in server logs and in traffic measurement records.
  • Cookies and similar browser storage, described in our Cookie Policy.
  • Push notification identifiers: if you allow browser notifications, the push service creates an anonymous subscription identifier for your browser, together with basic technical attributes such as browser type, language and country.

We do not ask for a phone number, a postal address or identity documents, and there is no facility on this site to submit them.

Why we use it, and on what basis

  • To send catalogue updates. Your e-mail address and name are used only to send the update notes you asked for. The basis is the consent you give when you tick the box and submit the form.
  • To run the Plus membership. Membership e-mail addresses, status and dates are used to confirm a seat, to deliver the digest and the extended breakdowns, and to keep a record of when a membership started or was cancelled. The basis is the performance of the membership you asked for, and our legal obligation to keep records of what was supplied.
  • To send browser notifications. Push identifiers are used to deliver the notifications you allowed. The basis is the permission you grant in your browser, which you can revoke at any time.
  • To keep the site working and secure. Server logs are used to run the site, diagnose faults and detect abuse. The basis is our legitimate interest in operating a functioning website.
  • To measure traffic and support advertising placements. Aggregated statistics tell us which entries are read; advertising partners may use their own cookies to decide which promotion to show. The basis is your consent, given through the cookie bar.

How long we keep it

  • Subscription details are kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to erase them, and are removed within 30 days of that request.
  • Plus membership records are kept while the membership is active and, once it is cancelled, for as long as Australian tax and consumer law requires a record of the service supplied.
  • Push subscription identifiers are kept while the subscription is active, and are dropped once you block notifications in your browser or clear site data.
  • Server logs are kept for up to 12 months, then deleted or aggregated so that individuals can no longer be identified.
  • Cookie and consent records last for the periods listed in the Cookie Policy.

Who else handles the information

We do not sell personal information and we do not disclose it for anyone else’s independent use. It is shared only with service providers acting on our instructions:

  • Hosting and content delivery providers, which store the site files and process the technical request data described above.
  • OneSignal, which acts as our processor for push notification subscriptions and for the e-mail addresses submitted through the subscription form, and delivers those messages on our behalf.
  • An external payment provider, which takes and processes Plus membership charges under its own terms, and tells us only that a membership is paid, changed or cancelled. Payment credentials stay with that provider and are not passed to us.
  • Advertising networks and measurement providers, which may set their own cookies to select and count promotions once you accept them in the cookie bar.
  • Government bodies or courts, where disclosure is required by Australian law.

Some of these providers operate servers outside Australia, including in the United States and the European Union. Where information is disclosed to an overseas recipient we take reasonable steps to ensure it is handled in a way consistent with the Australian Privacy Principles.

Cookies

Cookies and similar storage are used for essential site functions, for traffic measurement and for advertising. The categories, their purposes and their lifetimes are set out in the Cookie Policy, which also explains how to refuse or remove them.

Your rights

Under the Privacy Act 1988 and the Australian Privacy Principles you may:

  • ask for access to the personal information we hold about you;
  • ask us to correct information that is inaccurate, out of date or incomplete;
  • revoke your consent for updates or notifications at any time, using the unsubscribe link in a message or your browser notification settings;
  • ask us to erase the information we hold, where we are not required to keep it;
  • ask how your information is handled and object to a particular use;
  • deal with us anonymously or under a pseudonym where that is lawful and practicable — simply reading the catalogue requires no details at all.

Write to the address below and we will respond within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our answer you may complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au, which oversees privacy in Australia.

Security

The site is served over an encrypted connection. Access to subscription records is limited to the people who run the desk, and to the processors named above under their own security obligations. No system is perfect, so if a data breach is likely to cause serious harm we will notify affected people and the OAIC as required by the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme.

Children

StreakWiki is written for a general audience and is not directed at children under 15. We do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has submitted details through the form, contact us and we will remove the record.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes we will publish the new version on this page and move the date at the top. Material changes to how we use personal information will be described in the update note sent to subscribers.
